Guest Professor Viola

Felix Schwartz

The Berlin - born musician started playing violin at the age of five.

He continued at the ``Spezialschule für Musik Berlin`` under the guidance of Dorothea Gross and Horst Pietsch before beginning his viola studies at the ``Hochschule für Musik `Hanns Eisler` `` with Professor Alfred Lipka and finished in 1990 .

Felix Schwartz is two-time prizewinner of the International Music Competition in Geneva in 1987. In 1991, he became a member of the teaching staff at the ``Hochschule für Musik `Hanns Eisler ` `` in Berlin.

Since then, he has directed mastercourses for viola and chambermusic in Seoul / South Korea, Schöntal, and at the ``Hochschule für Musik and Theater`` in Rostock . Since 1994, he has been a guest viola teacher in Rostock and in 1998 was appointed professor.

Through his soloist engagements with the Berliner Streichsextett, the Trio Appollon, the Petersen Quartet, the Dresden Chamber Orchestra and, not lastly, the Staatskapelle Berlin, he has concertized nearly all over the world. His radio, television and CD recordings with various ensembles are part of his accomplished artistic career.
